I, like many Gen-X'ers, have certain sneakers for certain outfits. The best pair of sneakers are fresh white ones! Stan Smith and K-Swiss are ICONIC. I am a proud sneakerhead.
If you own a pair of Air Jordan 1's
consider yourself fortunate to be in possession of a valuable shoe. My favorite pair, which I am still trying to purchase, is the Air Jordan 4. Somebody say WISHLIST!
Jordans last shoe was released in 2023: Jordan 38
They are not as stylish or timeless as the others, but they are still worthy of a purchase. I have included the link for Fight Club below. Hover over the store name.
FENDI, GUCCI, PRADA, FERAGAMO, or nada? Sneakerheads are known to own at least one pair of designer sneakers. In the late 80’s and early 90’s, wealth was attributed to our sneaker game. If you could afford a pair of REAL Gucci sneakers, not only were you viewed as well-off, you were also viewed as someone with good taste. As long as the shoe is genuine and authentic, getting these on sale is best. Nordstrom’s Shoerack is my guilty pleasure for designer sneakers at a lower price.
Stan Smiths and Rod Lavers (Adidas)
worn with denim or all white the zoom in feature is mesmerizing. Nothing tops off an all white outfit better than Stan Smiths or Rod Lavers, depending on the season. The mesh on the Rod Laver is nice in the summer. Runner up—K-Swiss. Not my favorite but I know plenty of women who love this shoe with white.
Footlocker and Champs usually sell these on sale throughout the year. Adidas online has them on sale usually at the start of the new year.
Converse, Nike, Puma & Vans
You know the manager of at least one Lady Footlocker, buy shoes in advance of the holidays, your vacation, or if you’re a teacher, before that first Friday Jean Day!
Lady Footlocker is preferred (unavailable online) or I will shop at the outlets.
The Adidas Superstar (Shelltops)
Top tier is the hightop black with white strips followed by the all white hightop. Next best bet all white low top and the loptop white with blue stripes.
My go to is Adidas online, Journey's, or Footlocker the online store

I’ve been a sneaker lover my whole life. It started as a young child when I got my first pair of Jordans. I was instantly in love. Being a sneakerhead is fun, but it can be frustrating at times. I remember standing in long lines for hours to get exclusive sneakers. Sometimes you can obtain them, and sometimes you don’t. Now, it is much easier to buy sneakers because of the influx of online shopping. There are more options to choose from.
I own more than 70 pairs of sneakers. My favorites are Jordans, Nike Air Max, and Yeezy. My all-time favorite pair is the Jordan “Bred” 11. Michael Jordan wore this sneaker during the playoffs of his NBA career. It is, in my opinion, Michael Jordan’s most iconic sneaker. I was able to purchase a pair in 2012, and I still have them to this day.
My favorite part of being a sneakerhead is getting a pair of sneakers I have wanted or that I have been anticipating their release. When you finally get them, there is an overwhelming feeling of joy and accomplishment. I usually use the regular method of acquiring my sneakers by shopping at local retailers the day the shoes are released. However, if I miss out on the release date, there are resell sneakers apps and online sites I can purchase for a little more than the retail price. This method can get a little pricey, but it can be well worth it. All in all, being a sneakerhead is like any other hobby. Being a Sneakerhead is a hobby to be passionate about, and it also connects you to people with the same passion as you.
