"I do it by working on my self-care."

Managing our fears can be difficult without a conscious awareness of who we are. Developing who I am before identifying my fears was key. Let me begin by sharing with you what some of them are. A fear of not accomplishing all that God has called me to, and a fear of leaving my children and grandchildren when I pass on. Professionally, I also have others such as passing my state exams that I’m currently pursuing.

So, how do I manage these fears? I do it by working on my self-care. Reading self-help books and going to therapy allows me to identify those fears. Developing strategies to manage the anxiety that comes along with those fears proves to be beneficial. For instance, when I begin to overthink the “what ifs” is what I like to call them, I tend to become anxious. Therefore, meditation, listening to music, going for walks, and hanging out with family and friends are all resources or tools I use to help manage these fears.

I am a person who prefers to be in control of every situation. When I cannot control situations, I tend to overthink. In an instant fear begins to surface.  Using the right tools and creating boundaries to manage the fears that often overwhelm me, has made life better. We all have fears in life. Creating strategies, such as developing self-care methods, and being true to yourself can assist with managing our fears.
